Support monarchs and our mission: plant milkweed and wildflowers
Milkweed and nectar-bearing wildflowers are crucial to support Monarchs on their migration from Mexico to Canada. Every single person can help make a meaningful difference by planting these at home and taking other small steps to help improve biodiversity.
Monarch Butterflies are important indicators species, providing insight into overall ecosystem health. Their population has declined by over 90% over the past 30 years.
The most important action you can take is to plant milkweed and other wildflowers. Milkweed is the only host plant for Monarch caterpillars and it's been disappearing due to widespread use of herbicides, habitat destruction, and urbanization. Monarchs also need season long nectar to fuel their migration. Planting wildflowers with staggered bloom times is a great way to support Monarchs and other pollinators
There are lots of great options for planting wildflowers that will both support Monarchs and beautify your landscape. We've curated Milkweed and Wildflower seed collections to provide maximum benefit to Monarchs. We have a limited number of collections available for purchase to help get you started quickly and fund our next phase of operations.
Most people are not aware of Monarch population decline, widespread biodiversity loss, or what they can do to help. It only takes a minute to share what you've learned and hopefully find another ally. An awesome way to help make an impact is to make a post on social media about progress in your garden, the visitors you've had, or about Camp Monarch's mission. Please feel free to reach out if you have questions or would like planting advice. We're happy to help!
