Support monarchs and our mission: plant milkweed and wildflowers
Founder & President, Camp Monarch
Alan Pautsch is a seasoned Software Engineering Manager with over 20 years of experience in leadership and innovation, primarily within the financial industry. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from North Carolina State University and began his career as a Software Engineer. While he still enjoys coding, he discovered early on that his true impact lies in guiding teams toward effective solutions and strategic growth.
Alan’s long-standing appreciation for nature led him to experiment with environmental restoration on his own property over the past five years. By transforming portions of his yard into thriving wildlife habitats, he witnessed firsthand the positive effects of rewilding. Moved by the alarming decline in Monarch Butterflies and overall biodiversity, Alan co-founded Camp Monarch in late 2024 to scale these efforts and empower others to make a meaningful difference.
As Founder and President of Camp Monarch, Alan leads the Board of Directors in defining and executing the organization’s vision. He collaborates closely with fellow board members to create a strategic roadmap and ensure steady progress toward restoring habitats and bolstering local biodiversity.

Self Directed Habitat Restoration & Wildlife Conservation
Alan’s dedication to conservation was sparked by learning about the dramatic decline in Monarch Butterflies and the broader loss of global biodiversity. His personal success in rewilding his property, combined with insights from influential works like Nature’s Best Hope, reinforces his belief in the power of individual action. In the next 5–10 years, Alan envisions Camp Monarch managing multiple nature sanctuaries and wilderness camps where people can reconnect with the natural world, alongside a network of registered wildlife outposts along the Monarch migration corridor from Mexico to Canada.
"Every single person has the ability to make a meaningful difference in protecting our native wildlife. Camp Monarch is here to provide the knowledge and tools needed to transform that potential into action."
"Grow More, Mow Less."
For Alan, this motto reflects a vision for outdoor spaces that embraces biodiversity and natural beauty. He believes every lawn has the potential to become a vibrant habitat, one that nurtures local wildlife, supports families, and contributes to a healthier environment. By investing his time in cultivating a diverse landscape, he hopes to celebrates the richness of nature, provide food and resources for his family, and create a lasting, positive impact.
